A Crisis Can Be An Opportunity
I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust (Psalms 91:2 KJV).
Presently the world is experiencing pandemonium due to a pandemic of a novel flu. The word crisis in Chinese means “danger at a point of juncture.” How appropriate to see this virus, which originated in China, as a danger and yet an opportunity to change.
You can react as most of the world does by panicking, hoarding supplies, and pointing your finger to blame. Or you can take this as an opportunity to draw closer to God. He is both our refuge and shelter of protection. You can listen to every news report of doom and gloom, or you can listen to the Comforter, who says, “Do not fear I will help you.”
If you have no relationship with Christ, you must depend on your resources alone. The media and the stories people tell will influence your thoughts and, like the flu, bring you down with this infection of fear. On this occasion, you can surrender your will to Jesus, making Him both your protector and shield around you. You can begin to say, “Father, you are my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. Surely you will save me from the fowler’s snare and the deadly pestilence.”
If you know the Lord, but you find yourself full of worrying then your joy does not come from him. You must change. The joy of the Lord will sustain you through any crisis. His joy is your strength. The Lord will expose your heart during this time to remove, that which separates you from Him. Let this trial have its perfect work in you. The corona virus cannot top the crown of life that Jesus gives you.
