Be of Good Cheer

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world (John 16:33 NKJV).

Jesus is a realist. He tells you like it is. But He also is an optimist. He always sees through the eye of light rather than darkness. A pessimist Jesus is not! How can He be? Jesus has overcome the world. He lives in heaven and awaits the time when all things will be right with the world. Realists are truth-tellers.

Everyone who acknowledges that Jesus is the Truth is also a realist. He is reality and what He says prevails over anything anyone may be inclined to opine! It will serve you well to agree with Christ. He says it is inevitable that you will have tribulation in the world. Knowing the truth does not alleviate the trouble, but your acceptance of it will propel you to overcome it.

Amid the daily reports of innocent children killed by gunmen, corporate greed, and anarchy, has the world ever be a place of peace and refuge? In Christ, you live in the world, but you are not of it. The passions, as well as the limitations of this world, do not define you. Don’t become entangled with the cares of this world and its voices of gloom. Are you in a personal trial right now? Stay calm, get on your warhorse, and trounce through it. Shout unto God with a voice of triumph and see His enemies scatter. Use the Sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God! Cheer up, keep your spirit bright. The battle is the Lord’s, and He has already won it!
