Eliminate Excess In Joy
But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ (2 Corinthians 11:3 KJV).
What complicates your life? Do the daily pressures you face overwhelm you? Are you prone to worry excessively rather than expect a good outcome? Do you have an all or nothing attitude regarding every task that compels you? Are you driven instead of led? Can your thoughts push you to the brink of madness?
Simple-minded is a euphemism for being mentally handicapped, intellectually incapable of grasping sophisticated concepts. And yet, simplicity is how Apostle Paul describes Jesus. The Lord Himself said, “I am gentle and lowly in heart” and encourages His followers to learn from Him how to be the same. In Christ, your mind enjoys an ease and a sense of contentment that benefits you. Losing your mind for the mind of Christ is not a tragedy but a triumph.
In today’s political divisiveness, many enjoy airing their opinions to such an extreme that violence ensues. Whatever drives you toward unrestrained passions is harmful first to yourself and secondly to those who love you. Envy is a deadly sin. It wants it all, and it wants it now!
It is a type of wisdom that is earthly and demonic. We should all take heed of Apostle Paul’s instruction to “Let your moderation be known to all men. The Lord is at hand (Phil. 4:5).”
Let go of all the dos and don’ts of your life for an abiding companionship with Jesus. Devote yourself to Him and discover real joy. He is your first and your last love. He will thread you through these dark days of social upheaval and personal challenges. Live a meaningful life with one ruling passion, His love for you, and yours for Him!
