Choose the Light to Be a Light

Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”

John 8:12 (NLT)

Winter seasons come and go. They have a unique purpose. Unlike sunny seasons, they propel us inward to seek comfort from the cold outside. Our lives, like nature, go through cycles. If we come into the rhythm with them, we benefit. The loss of a loved one, saying goodbye to a close circle of friends, the loss of a job can all bring an avalanche of sorrow. But it’s in these dark times we reach for the Light. The Light of the world is Jesus.

To align ourselves with life's cycles, we must follow Jesus. He knows everything and goes before us, preparing us for victory. He leads us out of the night of our soul into revelation light. We can receive clarity and peace beyond explanation by drawing close to Him and praying with an open heart.

Every trial and test draws us closer to Christ, relying on Him for a positive outcome. As we meditate on God's word, something powerful happens within us, invisible to the natural eye. Like the sap in the trees during winter gives way to new birth in the spring, our breakthrough is on the way! Though the longest night is in winter, don't lose hope; the very next day brings a shorter night. Choose the Light of the World as your guide. Love and worship Him, and in doing so, you will become like Him. Be a light to everyone you meet, and light up your world!
