Rest in the Lord
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Matthew 11:28-30 (ESV)
Walking around a graveyard, you are apt to see the words “Rest in Peace” inscribed on many tombstones. Do only the dead have that promise of rest? Not so if you live and walk in the Holy Spirit. Communing with Him daily, you will enjoy the rest and peace He gives. If dread encroaches, you will automatically resist it to trust the Lord. In Christ, you live in a beautiful dwelling place of rest and peace.
Take heed to yourself. Are you restless? You need not be, Beloved. When you are in the mood to complain, you are missing the opportunity to enter the rest of God. When you murmur, that is your cue that your heart is restless. The Lord is with you in every trouble. He is your refuge and strength. Don’t harden your heart when things get tough; instead, look at Jesus, and He will lead you out of it. Change how you look at things, and things will change for you.
Jesus calls you today to come to Him. Are you weary? Are you carrying heavy burdens? He can give your soul rest, Beloved. Sit at His feet and learn His ways. You will discover the God-Man who is gentle, humble, and accommodating. He is for you always. Enjoy life through Him now each day and come out of the walking dead.
