Roar Like a Lion
Surely the Sovereign LORD does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets. 8 The lion has roared — who will not fear? The Sovereign LORD has spoken—who can but prophesy?
Amos 3:7-8 (NIV)
When a lion roars, people listen. For most, a bone-chilling fear arises that lays low the proud. He is the King of the Jungle. All the animals bow and quake at the sound of His voice. His roar reverberates throughout his surroundings and establishes his authority as the ground shakes. He goes after his prey without any backup. The Bible says the lion is the “strongest among beasts” (Proverbs 30:30).
Jesus is the Lion of Judah. Peter and John cowered behind closed doors before Jesus rose from the dead. But afterward, they were men of great boldness, mystifying the Pharisees until they realized these men had been with Jesus. Time spent in the presence of the Lord transforms the lamb into the lion.
A major battle is taking place in our nation. Will you stand idly by and watch our freedoms and cherished values be swept away by the corrupt desire of evil people? The words in our mouths that precisely agree with God’s words are our roar. As we decree God’s word over our lives and the life of our nation, God establishes the authority of King Jesus.
Can you hear the roar of the Lion of Judah? Awake church of God, be bold as a lion. The Lord is here to transform you. Look into His eyes and exchange your fear for His courage, your weakness for His strength. Open your mouth and let the Lord fill it. Roar the truth of God’s word and become the hunter instead of the hunted.
