Taking Revenge Forfeits Your Blessings

The desert and the dry land will be glad, and the wilderness will rejoice and blossom...Be brave; don’t be afraid. Your God will come with vengeance, with divine revenge. He will come and rescue you.

Isaiah 35:1-4 (GW)

Are you currently wandering in a barren land, feeling like nothing is going to change? It may be more comfortable to have some shade to rest under, but if there were trees in the desert, it wouldn't be a desert anymore. It's sometimes the result of disobedience or mistreatment from others that we find ourselves in dry and empty places. However, God can use these desert experiences to help us grow and move forward towards a life of abundance in Him.

Your heart is susceptible to every kind of impurity and lie. It is crucial to protect it by lifting it up to God daily. Anger and the desire for revenge will keep you in a dry place. To overcome this, encourage yourself and remind yourself that the Lord can turn even a desert into a beautiful and joyful place. Your circumstances will change when you let go of your anger and disappointment and move forward in life. Do not be afraid but believe that the Lord will come and rescue you. He will make right the wrongs that you have gone through and bring joy back into your life.

Revenge is not the solution to your problems. It will only leave you wandering in the wilderness of this world, finding no rest, and being tormented by scorpions and rattle snakes. The best thing you can do is forgive those who have wronged you, including yourself. Let go of any resentment towards God, as He is the only one who can restore the hope that the enemy has stolen from you. Instead of trying to figure out how to get back at the people who hurt you, pray for them. If you don't then you should get use to your desert home.
